Large Scale Road Map of Essex
New style of wrap-around blue-green cover with a generic picture, but still relies on a stuck-on label for the title - Essex 3 Miles : 1 Inch. Price 2/6 Paper, 4/- Cloth. No adverts.
The county edge-border in pink is now far thinner than before. CUL has a copy with a yellow cover of the same design, with prices 2/- and 4/-, but with the same dated map.
Scale correct at 10 miles = 85mm, or 3.0 miles/inch, ie 1:190,000.
Ministry of Transport class 1 (A) roads are in red (numbered); Ministry of Transport class 2 (B) roads are in blue (also numbered). Legend says that distances between places shown underlined in red - they are in red, but not underlined. The sea is (flat) blue.
The map is published by Geographia Ltd, 167 Fleet Street on the map, but unnumbered on the covers; code of CU.EU = December 1952.
