Essex Road Map

Identical map within two different sized covers, with two different prices (2/6 and 3/-). Both covers have adverts for other Geographers' Map Co products, and those on the 2nd cover are slightly more expensive.

Class A roads in red and class B roads in yellow. (No motorway symbols, or motorways.)

Produced under the direction of Phyllis Pearsall FRGS, and Published by Geographers' Map Co, Vestry Road, Sevenoaks. (The "A-Z" isn't added to the name until 1972.) Code: IEH = February 1963.

Scale correct at 5 miles = 57mm, or 2.2 miles/inch, ie 1:140,000.

Produced under the direction of Phyllis Pearsall FRGS, and Published by Geographers' Map Co on the cartouche, but by Geographers' A-Z Map Co, Vestry Road, Sevenoaks on the base of the map (name changed in 1972). Motorways in thick red, under construction in thick dotted red & proposed in thick dashed red; A roads in red and B roads in yellow. M11 open J7 to J8 (!, opened 1975), and proposed southwards and J8 northwards to Stump Cross. Code: FDH = May 1973.
