Jarrolds' Map of Essex
Two very different covers, but the same map inside - a half-inch John Bartholomew FRGS map, but without the hypsometric tinting.
Main Driving Roads shown in brown, parks etc in green, county edge-coloured in pink. Has the Forest Gate to Tottenham line (opened 1894), but not the Corringham light (1901) or Chigwell loop line (1903), and hence an estimated date (no code).
Scale correct at 6 miles = 77mm, or 2.0 miles/inch, ie 1:126,720.
The red cover has solid red boards, decorated in an Art Nouveau style, and priced at one shilling.
The brown cover is just stiff card stuck front and back, and priced 6d.
