The 1973 map is number 16 of 28 sheets to cover all of England & Wales at 1:100,000. At this stage only south-eastern sheets had been published, with the remainder due in 1974 to 1976. The map extends north-west to Newport, north-east to Harwich, south-east to Sheerness and south west to Lewisham. It was created by Map Publications Ltd, 27a Floral Street, London - a subsidiary of the George Philip Group. On the reverse is a gazetteer and 5 town plans. The M11 is shown as under construction for its whole length - the first part (junctions 7 to 8) opened in 1975. The date of 1973 is an estimate based on the planned M11 and the publication dates of later maps.

Scale correct at 5 miles = 80mm, or 1.6 miles/inch, ie 1:100,000.

The 1977/78 maps are numbers 1 and 4 of 11 (large) sheets to cover all of England, Wales and Scotland at 3 miles/inch. They were created by Map Publications Ltd, 27a Floral Street, London - a subsidiary of the George Philip Group.

Scale correct at 10 miles = 84.6mm, or 3.0 miles/inch, ie 1:190,000.

The South East (sheet 1) covers Essex, Kent, Sussex, Surrey, London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire (north-west to Towcester). The reverse is blank, but there are 7 town plans on the front. The M25 is shown as open from South Mimms to Potters Bar (opened 1975) and from Potters Bar to Waltham Cross, and then under construction from there to the Dartford Crossing; the Potters Bar to dartford Crossing section opened progressively 1979 to 1982. However, the SBN number has an official publication date of December 1977.

The East Anglia (sheet 4) covers Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Notts, Leics and Northhants (north-west to Bawtry). It was created by Map Publications Ltd, 27a Floral Street, London - a subsidiary of the George Philip Group. The reverse is blank, but there are 6 town plans on the front. The SBN number has an official publication date of April 1978.
