Jarrolds' Map of Essex

The card covers are stuck front and back to the map, with adverts for the Essex & Suffolk Equitable Insurance Society Limited and for Barnards Limited of Norwich. Inside there is a large advert for Caley's Delicious Chocolates, Norwich Cocoa and Celebrated Marching Chocoloate (which was very big in WW1), plus for their waters, ginger beer, ciders and lemon squash.

Scale correct at 10 miles = 94mm, or 2.7 miles/inch, ie 1:170,000.

No attribution for this map, and no copyright claim either!

Clear map of towns, villages, roads and railways, but with "Main Roads in red" dominating the appearance. Has Thaxted branch line (opened 1913) but no Southend Arterial, and this plus the "Celebrated Marching Chocolate" suggests the estimated date.
