There are two scales printed: 10mls = 146mm "Computed miles", and 10mls = 118mm "Measured miles". The latter gives a claimed mileage of 2.1 miles/inch, and this is the actual scale as well, ie 1:135,000.
This is the earliest map of Essex I've seen where the claimed miles equals the actual (statute) miles per inch.
There is a grid of Latitude & Longitude lines, the latter being based on St Paul's.
