Political Magazine
The English Counties were published in the John Murray's Political Magazine from 1782 to 1790, Essex being in July 1788.
The maps were all engraved by John Lodge, but based on Kitchin 1764.
The maps were reprinted in 1795, with all reference to the Political Magazine deleted, and the engraver's name erased.
Displayed scale of 12 miles = 49.5mm, or 6.2 miles/inch; actual scale = 5.8 miles/inch, or 1:365,000.
